In Everything Give Thanks

Have you ever had one of those days where just one more thing keeps happening?  Well, that is how yesterday began.  We came home on Wednesday after being away on a little vacation.  We had heard the weather had been bad in our town, but our neighbor assured us that our area was fine.  When we opened our garage door we knew that everything was not fine in our home.  The smell of mold/mildew was overpowering and the carpet was wet (our garage is carpeted and serves as a playroom for the kids).  There was nothing we could do that late at night, so we waited for the morning.

The next day, as we were moving everything out of the garage, we found more wet areas.  Then the day just kept going downhill, wet carpet, cracks in the cement block (in one area), a spilled box of car fluids, items covered in mold, 2 diaper accidents, more damaged items…  What a mess! With all of that, we started to feel overwhelmed and down.  We decided to pray with the kids about what we’re thankful for.

Thank you God for being our protector (the damage could’ve been worse, there were sinkhole pictures and flooding from the storm)!Thank you for being our provider (we still have our home)!Thank you for my children, thank you for my family! There are so many things to be thankful for even when everything seems like it’s going downhill.  We have hope in our Savior and we can be assured that He can fill us with peace even in the midst of trouble.

Ephesians 5:20 “giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ”

Psalm 28:7 “The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.”

Give thanks to God, even when life isn’t going well.  Put your focus on Him and He will get you through.

(Our garage is cleaned out, the carpet was cleaned by an amazing local service – Allred’s Carpet Cleaning.  Tomorrow starts the process of putting everything back!)
